Sherry Squire
Executive Director
Sherry came to Asher Student Foundation (ASF) in 2013, with nearly 30 years of nonprofit leadership experience in the areas of higher education, national and youth service, training and community development, and philanthropy. Prior to joining ASF, she served as Director of Independent Living at Arden Wood, Inc. as well as Director of Philanthropy at the Center for Nonprofit and Public Leadership at the Haas School of Business, UC Berkeley. Before that, she was Executive Director of Big Brothers Big Sisters of San Francisco & the Peninsula. Sherry has held leadership positions with the AmeriCorps National Civilian Community Corps (NCCC) at the Corporation for National Service, the Volunteer Center of Detroit and San Francisco’s Promise. Sherry holds an M.Ed. in Administration, Planning and Social Policy/International Education Development from Harvard University, and a BA in English and American Literature from Scripps College.
Sherry is delighted to head up the Asher team! The opportunity to combine her favorite causes – education, service and philanthropy – in support of the Christian Science movement is a true gift.
Emma Herman
Director of Programs
Emma has served Asher Student Foundation in various capacities since 2018. After participating in Asher’s CTI program for two years in D.C., Emma stepped into the role of House Manager. She managed the D.C. and St. Louis houses sequentially, all the while working full time for The First Church of Christ, Scientist (The Mother Church). Her professional experience working for the Federal Office of the Christian Science Committee on Publication coupled with her time living and working at Asher Houses, prepared her well to take on her current role as Asher’s Director of Programs.
Emma holds a BA from Principia College and is currently pursuing her Master’s in Public Administration from Webster University in St. Louis, Missouri, where she currently lives.
Her love for education and Christian Science aligns perfectly with Asher, and she wakes up each day excited to serve its mission.
Meg Reehl
Director of House Operations
Meg first joined the Asher Student Foundation team in 2020 as the House Manager for Asher House, Boulder, before taking on her current role as Director of House Operations for all the Asher Houses. Her varied professional experiences have included working as a Political Campaign Manager, Event Planner, Student Abroad Instructor, and Project Manager for non-profit organizations. Meg spent many years working in the Urban Agriculture sector in Colorado, which included managing a community garden program where she oversaw infrastructure maintenance, developed leadership training programs, and facilitated conflict resolution. Her passion for ecology and sustainability has inspired creative work opportunities and has led to many nature-filled adventures around the globe.
Meg holds a BS in Biology from Principia College and a Professional Science Masters in Ecosystem Management from the University of Northern Iowa. She currently resides in St. Louis, Missouri and is delighted to be a part of the ASF team!
Jessica Bearden
Marketing & Outreach Manager
Jessica has served ASF in several capacities since 2014. After graduating from Principia College with a BA in graphic design, she joined the Asher team as a part-time office assistant and then became the Marketing & Administrative Manager at Asher HQ in San Francisco. In 2016, Jessica moved to Austin, Texas to become the House Manager at Asher House, Austin, where she loved serving for nearly three years. She is now ASF’s Marketing & Outreach Manager and works remotely from her home in Durango, Colorado.
Jessica is very grateful to be able to work from home and spend time with her two young sons while also supporting ASF and the Christian Science movement!
Kristen Jones
Administrative Coordinator
Kristen Jones joined the Asher team in 2020 and has been enjoying a professional music career and working in the nonprofit sector for more than two decades. She served as the Education Program Manager at the California Center for the Arts, Escondido and was an Artist in Residence through a Cultural Partnership Program for Teachers that focused on using the arts as a methodology for learning mathematics, science, social studies, literacy, and other subject areas. After moving to San Francisco she became the Director of Communication and Membership Services for CALAA, the California Assembly of Local Arts Agencies and a teaching artist for the San Francisco Opera Guild. Kristen is an accomplished vocalist, performer, director and teacher and is Co-Founder of Presto! Interactive Opera (https://PrestoOpera.com/) a company that strives to bring theater off the stage and into the community.
Her BA degree from Principia College is in vocal performance with a minor in art history. She is currently the soloist at the Ninth Church of Christ Scientist San Francisco.
