Asher in Action

Asher House residents and community members regularly participate in community service projects, also known as an “Asher in Action” projects. Over the years, there have been many wonderful opportunities for our residents to be involved in their local communities. Asher in Action projects are all centered around the idea of “Home.”

Examples of recent “Asher in Action” activities:

• We collect nonperishable food items and clothing regularly throughout the year, as well as at all events hosted at Asher Houses. We love seeing the donation bins overflowing!
• Residents at Asher Houses Brookline and Boston jointly volunteered at the Cradles to Crayons Giving Factory Warehouse, which supports homeless and low income youth. They purchased and donated kids clothing, hygiene items and school supplies and helped sort through over 1,000 pair of shoes.
• Several Asher Houses have volunteered at their local food pantries to help package boxes of food and supplies for families in need.
• Asher House, St. Louis residents and friends made fleece blankets for shelter pets and donated them to a local animal shelter.
• Asher House, Washington D.C. residents and friends participated in a park cleanup day at Dumbarton Oaks.
• Asher House, Los Angeles residents volunteered at Broadview, a Christian Science Nursing Facility, decorating for Christmas, reading the Christian Science Bible Lesson with patients, and helping out with “Joy Games.”
